John W. Burgner, age 91, a merchant in Veedersburg for more than a half-century, died at his home Tuesday morning, April 25. He had been in failing health since last October. Mr. Burgner's latest business venture was a garage in which he was associated with his son, Robert I. Burgner. In earlier years he had operated a bicycle shop and furniture store. He was born Dec. 2, 1876, in the Veedersburg community, he was the son of John and Angeline Romine Burgner. He was married May 17, 1905 to Maude S. Boggs, who survives. He was a member of the Veedersburg Methodist Church and the Knights of Pythias Lodge. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one son, Robert I. Burgner of Veedersburg; one daughter, Mrs. Forrest (Dorothy) Songer of Veedersburg Rt.; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Russell; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Brown, and one brother, Daniel Burgner. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg. The Rev. Mrs. Edith Bruner officiated and burial was in Rockfield Cemetery, southeast of Veedersburg.  --Typed by RS
